About the Team

Don Parcher

Don first launched Checklists.com on May 26, 2000 with checklists he developed to help people avoid early death, injuries, frustrations and disappointments, and, to create, and take advantage of, opportunities for a better life. Don is a retired Navy Commander and first used checklists extensively as a Navy carrier pilot. He has a Master’s degree in Systems Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, both from the University of Southern California. He has been involved in his community as PTA President, Cub Scout Cubmaster, youth soccer coach, Block Captain, and, substitute teacher in middle and high schools. He was successfully treated for thyroid cancer (carcinoma) in 1999 and has been a vegetarian since March 2001.

Originally from San Diego, California, he currently studies Computer Science at the University of California, Santa Cruz. With several years of experience working with standards-based websites and a lifelong passion for technology, Matthew believes in the power of computers to make life better for people and change the world, and strives to make them easier to use for the average person. He is a Leo, and he uses a Mac.

Leslie Ferguson

Ms. Ferguson has spent her career working with various media industry segments. She began working with television and film, but grew to love the interactive opportunities available on the World Wide Web. Her earliest experience was as an Online Buyer and Planner for Optimedia (Publicis Groupe). She discovered that knowing an audience based on their actions, rather than what they say, is key in crafting a successful message. Later, she went on to develop awareness and subscription programs as an Advertising Operations Campaign Manager at an online music pioneer, where she built online spaces on backend communities. Most recently she oversaw a massive rebranding and website redesign for a large network equipment and service company. Ms. Ferguson is excited to use her experience to build a web presence for thought leadership dialog addressing intellectual property. She holds a BS in Global Studies with a socio-economic focus from the University of California at Santa Barbara and continues to take courses through various institutions. In her spare time, Ms. Ferguson is a volunteer mentor with City of Dreams in San Francisco where she works with underprivileged youth.
